Developing Composure on the Path of Awakening
Ethical self-discipline is developed in order to bring calm and quiet to the heart-mind and to reduce the harm we cause ourselves and others. When we act with an intention to benefit our future self, others or our environment, without greed or malice, it results in a ‘bright’ mind is that is composed, relaxed, sees clearly and is ready to benefit others.

100 Days of Care
We’re excited to announce the launch of our third round of 100 Days of Care! This time, accompanied by a book written by Stream teacher Heather Fenton.
Embark on a journey of self-love and compassion! This self-directed, at-home meditation retreat fits seamlessly into your daily life, with just a few minutes of commitment each morning and evening.
Six far-reaching attitudes
Cultivation of six ‘far-reaching attitudes’ helps us overcome our limitations. The development of these attitudes can lead us to a deep and lasting inner peace.
Karma yoga at Stream
Thank you to our karma yogis! Stream is a community of people who come together to practice yoga + meditation. We thrive (and exist so others can thrive) because of the kindness, generosity and commitment of our members.
“Karma yoga” is essential to our yoga practice: through service and generosity, we transcend the limiting notion of an independent “small self,” fostering connection with others and creating the conditions for insight and compassion to flourish.
Smile and know
I’ve been guiding the “inner smile” practice a lot in the last few months, both in yoga classes and in guided meditations. It’s an easy practice to turn to many times each day…
Feeling is like a bubble
The Buddha used the analogy of “feeling is like a bubble” to convey the impermanence and transient nature of sensations. Just like a bubble that appears for a brief moment and then pops, feelings come and go. Feeling is “completely void, hollow, and insubstantial.”
Abandon hope
Abandoning hope of fruition is not despair but a deep release and untangling of our confusion about reality.
Slow down
It’s the small things, done with care and consideration, that make our lives peaceful.
You’re invited to practice with us weekly in person in Port Colborne, Ontario or live online on Zoom.
Insight Meditation, Wednesdays 7pm ET (90 mins), with Heather Fenton — Start and/or maintain a regular meditation practice. Each week, guided meditations are combined with instructions for bringing mindfulness into daily living. This meditation class is offered freely.
